Gaglioppo and white Greco

Il Gaglioppo

Autochthonous Calabrian vine, probably imported into the region by the Greeks during colonization.
It is said that the grapes were offered as prizes to the sports heroes of the games organized by the Hellenic civilization that would later become the modern Olympics.
It comes with compact bunches of medium-large, pyramidal and winged sizes. The grains are spherical, of medium size, the peels are of medium thickness of an almost black red color. A vine with excellent resistance to climatic conditions.
Robust, full-bodied, structured wines with strong tannins are born from Gaglioppo.
The King of Calabrian vines offers unique emotions and sensations, certainly in Cirò finds its best expression.

THE white Greek

Even the white Greek seems to have been imported by the Greeks in our region during the period of colonization.
Indigenous vine with white fruit, it is cultivated mainly along the Ionian coast.
The cluster has a medium-large size and is long, loose, conical in shape.
The white Greco adapts to forms of breeding little expanded (sapling or espalier with horizontal spur cordon) and has a good tolerance to climatic adversities and especially drought.
From the white Greek it is born a bright and bright straw-yellow wine with a fresh, slightly tannic taste, with a moderate and pleasant bitterish aftertaste.
